Fort Worth’s film scene is getting another major spotlight.
A new Taylor Sheridan series, Frisco King, is set to begin filming in Fort Worth next month. The show is a spinoff of Paramount+’s hit series Tulsa King and will star Samuel L. Jackson in the lead role.
Originally planned to film in New Orleans under the title NOLA King, the production has officially relocated to North Texas — with Frisco serving as the primary setting for the series.
Jackson reprises his role as mafia hitman Russell Lee Washington Jr., a character introduced in the most recent season of Tulsa King. The series will be written by Weatherford-based creator Taylor Sheridan, who continues to expand his portfolio of successful projects, including Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, and Landman.
While Frisco is known today as one of the safest and fastest-growing suburbs in the country — home to major employers like the Dallas Cowboys and the PGA of America — the show will bring a fictional crime narrative to the booming North Texas backdrop.
Production beginning in Fort Worth is another strong signal of the region’s growing influence in the entertainment industry. With Sheridan’s continued investment in Texas-based storytelling, North Texas is quickly becoming a recurring setting for high-profile film and television projects.
For Fort Worth, it’s more than just exciting news — it’s continued momentum for the local creative economy and a reminder that the spotlight is increasingly shining on our corner of Texas.
North Texas continues to prove it’s one of the strongest regions in the country for growth — and now Mansfield is earning national recognition.
A new nationwide survey from CoworkingCafe ranked Mansfield No. 37 among the top U.S. career hotspots for cities with populations under 250,000. The report highlights smaller cities that successfully blend economic growth with everyday livability — offering both strong job markets and stable community foundations.
Mansfield joins an impressive list of North Texas standouts. Frisco ranked No. 11 overall, with median household incomes reaching $145,444 and wages surging 33 percent since 2019. Flower Mound followed at No. 15, boasting a median household income of $166,624 and continued income growth. McKinney secured the No. 20 spot, recognized for balancing affordability, opportunity, and amenities.
Several other DFW suburbs made the top 100, including Allen (No. 43), Richardson (No. 58), and Lewisville (No. 80).
For Mansfield specifically, the growth is easy to see. The Tarrant County suburb continues expanding with new retail, dining, and development projects like Geyer Commons, alongside major employers such as Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, Mouser Electronics, and Mansfield ISD. The city’s steady expansion reflects both economic momentum and community investment.
The report underscores a larger trend: suburban cities around Fort Worth and Dallas are increasingly offering career advantages that rival — and sometimes surpass — larger metropolitan areas. With strong employer bases, rising incomes, and high quality of life, these communities are attracting professionals and families alike.
For Fort Worth and its surrounding suburbs, this recognition reinforces what locals already know — North Texas remains one of the most dynamic and opportunity-rich regions in the country.
