$1M Goes Further in Fort Worth Than Nearly Any Other Major U.S. City
If you're shopping for a luxury home with a million-dollar budget, Fort Worth might just be one of the best places in the country to make that dream a reality.
According to a new housing study from Realtor.com, Fort Worth ranks No. 5 in the U.S. for cities where $1 million buys the most square footage. While the national average for a $1M home is around 2,994 square feet, buyers in Dallas-Fort Worth can expect roughly 4,072 square feet for the same price—over 1,000 more square feet than the average.
Compare that to coastal markets like San Francisco, Los Angeles, or New York, where the same $1 million might barely get you a modest condo. In Fort Worth, you’re looking at spacious, newer builds, more land, and upgraded amenities—all in a vibrant and growing city.
As Realtor.com’s senior economist put it: “Luxury buyers are increasingly seeking value — and that doesn't always mean a lower price tag, but rather more home for the money.”
📊 Quick Stats:
So if you’re dreaming of more space, more upgrades, and a better return on your investment, Fort Worth should be at the top of your list.
Bottom Line: In today’s market, value matters — and Fort Worth is delivering it in square footage.
The Texas dining scene has once again caught global attention with the release of the 2025 Michelin Guide, but this year’s list left Fort Worth food lovers wanting more.
At an invite-only ceremony in Houston, Michelin announced its newest One Star restaurants — Isidore and Mamani in San Antonio and Dallas, plus Nicosi in San Antonio, which was promoted from Bib Gourmand to Star status. In total, 18 Texas restaurants now hold Michelin Stars — but none of them are in Fort Worth.
While Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston continue to dominate the Michelin spotlight, Fort Worth maintained its limited recognition from last year. Only four local restaurants made the 2025 Guide:
All three of the latter remain on the Recommended list.
Even without a Michelin Star, Fort Worth’s dining culture continues to thrive — thanks to the city’s growing list of chef-driven concepts, creative collaborations, and locally loved spots that bring flavor and authenticity to every corner of town. From upscale dining downtown to hidden gems in the Near Southside, Fort Worth’s food scene proves it doesn’t need a star to shine.
Bottom line: Michelin may have passed over Fort Worth this year, but the local culinary energy is stronger than ever — and it’s only a matter of time before more national attention follows.
