Blue Bell is celebrating 119 years the right way — with a summer-long ice cream tour across Texas. The Lone Star Scoop Tour kicked off its North Texas leg on July 10 and will make more than 60 stops across the Metroplex through August 28, handing out free hand-dipped ice cream, hosting giveaways, and selling limited merchandise along the way.
For Fort Worth residents, the truck is scheduled to make several local stops in August. On August 18, you can catch it at the Albertsons on Clifford Street from 10 am to noon. August 20 brings two stops — Kroger on East Bonds Ranch Road in the morning and Kroger on West Bailey Boswell Road in the afternoon. August 21 wraps up the Fort Worth leg with a morning stop at Kroger on Basswood Boulevard. Six Flags Over Texas Opens a World-Record Roller Coaster This Summer
Six Flags Over Texas officially opened its newest roller coaster, Tormenta Rampaging Run, on July 9 — and it comes with a handful of records attached. The ride is the tallest, fastest, longest, and first-ever giga dive coaster in the world, reaching 309 feet before sending riders down a 95-degree, 285-foot drop. For context, that drop is steeper than vertical.
The ride runs for about two minutes and 45 seconds total, with roughly one full minute of drops, loops, and a corkscrew once you clear the initial climb. The rodeo theme carries through the experience, from the decor in the queue to the gate that swings open at the start of the ride. Each car holds 24 riders across three rows. Lines are expected to be long given the buzz around the opening, but the park has added shade structures, umbrellas, and misting fans in the queue to make the wait a little more manageable in the summer heat.
