Fort Worth is quickly becoming a major player in the film industry, recently earning the No. 12 spot on MovieMaker Magazine’s 2026 list of the best places to live and work as a filmmaker in North America. This marks a significant rise for the city, jumping from No. 19 in 2025—and not even making the list the year before.
A big reason behind Fort Worth’s momentum? Taylor Sheridan.
The acclaimed creator behind hit series like Yellowstone, 1883, Lioness, and Landman has made Fort Worth a central hub for production. His continued investment in the area—including a massive production campus at AllianceTexas—is helping position the city as a serious destination for filmmakers. Upcoming projects, including the new series Frisco King, are set to continue that growth.
But it’s not just one name driving the industry. Fort Worth offers a combination of film-friendly incentives, lower cost of living, and an easy permitting process, making it an attractive place for both large productions and independent creators. Programs like the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive and local rebates are also helping bring more projects—and jobs—to the area.
The impact is already being felt across North Texas, with more productions choosing Fort Worth for filming and more locals getting involved, even as on-screen extras.
While nearby Dallas also made the top 10 this year, Fort Worth’s steady climb shows the city is carving out its own identity in the entertainment world.
The bottom line: Fort Worth isn’t just growing—it’s becoming a destination for creativity, opportunity, and storytelling.
Spring in Texas wouldn’t be complete without bluebonnets—but this year, you may have to look a little harder to find them.
According to experts at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, the 2026 wildflower season is expected to be more uneven than usual, largely due to a dry fall and mild winter across much of Central Texas. Since bluebonnets rely heavily on fall moisture to germinate and winter rain to grow, fewer ideal conditions mean blooms may appear more scattered—especially in the Hill Country.
That said, it’s not all bad news.
While some areas may see patchier bluebonnet displays, wildflower season in Texas is far from canceled. In fact, experts say different regions and microclimates can produce completely different results, meaning beautiful blooms will still be found—you just may need to explore a bit more.
For North Texans, there’s still plenty to look forward to. The Ennis Bluebonnet Trails, just south of Dallas–Fort Worth, are expected to hit their peak in mid-April, with trails open April 1–30 and the festival taking place April 17–19.
And as the season progresses, other wildflowers like Indian paintbrush, black-eyed Susans, and purple horsemint are expected to thrive—especially if spring rainfall picks up.
The takeaway? Even in a less predictable year, Texas wildflower season always delivers something worth seeing. It might just require a little extra planning—and a few more scenic drives—to find those iconic fields of blue.
